Express It

SpeakOut Connect was contracted by Gold Coast City Council to deliver a pilot creative arts and skills development program for young people (13-17 years), titled Express It.

Express It aimed to promote healthy communities, and safe and legal practices amongst young people on the Gold Coast.

30 young people found new ways of 'expressing it' through:

• Drawing
• Stop motion animation
• Film and Video
• Visual Art and Design
• Collage
• Chalk Art
• Live art projections
• Photography

The final outcome was a series of postcards featuring the participants' artwork and reflecting themes and ideas explored by Express It participants in discussing what it means to be young in Gold Coast City today.

Thanks to all the young people who participated in the program from the Positive Learning Centre, Keebra Park Annex, DRASTIC, Youth Justice, Palm Beach Neighbourhood Centre, St Joseph’s Youth Service, and Gold Coast Youth Arts Inc.
