Some people invest a lot of time and energy in convincing their customers, clients, partners or investors that they are ‘green’, ‘clean’ and ‘socially conscious’ in order to sell more stuff.

There is, for instance, a growing trend in branding websites as carbon neutral purely through the practice of carbon offsetting. It may help people to sleep at night, but we don’t believe it actively addresses the problem.

Listed below is what we can honestly tell you about the Hosting and Online Services offered by SpeakOut Digital - with no ‘washing’ or obscure claims.

1. Scalable

Our sites and services are built on scalable technologies. Customers can start on our entry level Seedling plan and transition right up to our mission critical Redwood plan.

Through our Creative and Enhanced services we can also develop, maintain and enhance your website and online presence through online campaigns, content management systems, information feeds and e-marketing.

2. Reliable

The data-centre we use for our hosting services guarantees 100% up-time, but a little like the concept of ‘carbon neutral’ we don’t believe there are many things that can be 100% guaranteed.

Our service level agreement is for better than 99.9% up-time.

The reliability and performance of any website is determined by two simple concepts, connection speed and stability.

These two concepts are the primary focus of the data-centre in which our servers are located. This includes:

  • Direct connection to premium Tier-1 bandwidth providers
  • Backup power systems which include large scale UPS units as well as diesel generators to ensure that clean power reaches the servers at any level of failure, including extended total electrical blackout
  • High level security and on-site technicians, 24 hours per day

3. Cost Effective

We monitor and maintain competitive pricing but are also conscious that ‘cheapest is rarely the best’.

We will always prioritise quality of service over the cheapest deal.

4. Socially Responsible

SpeakOut Digital is a profit-for-purpose enterprise of the not-for-profit organisation, Speak Out ltd (SpeakOut).

In addition to providing high quality and exclusive hosting services to our customers, SpeakOut Digital exists to support SpeakOut’s social change programs and objectives through the financial support we generate and the pathways we offer the young people and communities we work with.

100% of all income (excluding liabilities) generated by this enterprises directly supports SpeakOut’s social change programs and services.

Service offerings through SpeakOut Digital are limited to customers that are not opposed to our Charter and share our vision of creating opportunities for people to change their world (for the better).

We are clear about who our Digital and Hosting customers are and are not.

They are:

  • Sites of socially responsible individuals, organisations and companies that share our vision of creating opportunities for people to change their world (for the better).

They are not:

  • Pornography, ‘Adult’ or sex industry related sites
  • Gambling sites
  • Pirated software, Hacking, Spamming or Warez sites
  • Game servers
